We can continue to help reunite pets with their owner’s, but we need your help.
You provide the love and care while we find the owners or a new home.

WHAT DOES FOSTERING A DOG or CAT INVOLVE?
When you foster, you agree to take a homeless animal into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the animal is adopted.
In foster care, young pets have a chance to grow, injured or sick pets have the opportunity to heal, under-socialized pets learn to trust, and all pets get the love, care and comforts of home so they can start their next chapter of life on the right paw! Foster care for kittens and puppies needing bottle feeding or not yet old enough for surgery is definitely our biggest need at AS&C shelter, but there is also opportunity for adult pet fostering as well to help with the stress of being in shelter.
Our foster program at Animal Shelter and Care of Jefferson County plays a crucial role in the general wellbeing of all the pets at the shelter. When you foster, not only are you giving a loving and comfortable home to the pet/s in your care, but you are also freeing up shelter resources, including staff and volunteer time, that can now be dedicated to the pets not in foster care. Every pet at the shelter benefits from fostering. It is truly lifesaving work!
