Applications that are incomplete or have incorrect contact information will not be processed.
- Before any adoption is to take place an application needs to be submitted.
- All applicants must be 18 years or older.
- All applications received will be processed with the best interests of the dog or cat in mind, to ensure a successful adoption for the animal and your family.
- After your application has been received, it will be sent to our committee for processing and background check.
- We recommend that all household members meet the animal during the adoption process. In some cases, we will make this a requirement.
- After the AS&C of Jefferson County has processed all adoption applicants a decision will be made.
- Completing an application does NOT guarantee adoption.

Dorito is a 10-month-old orange boy with a heart full of love. Born without a tail and with some sensory challenges, he has overcome so much and never lets it stop him from enjoying life.
If you’re looking for a cat who loves people, Dorito is your guy! His favorite thing is having one-on-one time, and he will gladly soak up all the affection you have to offer. He’s incredibly smart and observant, always watching what’s going on around him. He enjoys exploring the catio, gets along wonderfully with other cats, and especially likes playing with kittens.
Because of his unique anatomy, Dorito occasionally has litter box accidents. For that reason, we think he would thrive as an indoor/outdoor barn companion or shop cat on a farm, ranch, or rural property. He would love a safe, warm place to call home where he can come and go, spend time outdoors, and still enjoy frequent interaction with people who care for him.
Dorito isn’t looking to be left on his own – he’s looking for a family who will welcome him into their daily routine. Whether he’s greeting you in the barn, keeping you company in the shop, or asking for your undivided attention after a day of exploring, Dorito will be a loyal and affectionate companion.
