OUR MISSION

“Promoting humane treatment of animals through shelter, education and spay/neuter endeavors in Jefferson County.”

The Animal shelter and Care of Jefferson County (AS&C) (EIN: 41-2270187) is a community-based, non-profit organization located in Boulder serving primarily Jefferson County.

The AS&C have successfully run a low cost spay and neuter Program by providing two annual low-cost vaccination clinics, providing spay & neuter discount coupons and two annual TNVR clinics for Jefferson County pet owners since 2008. While striving to encourage the importance of animal vaccinations, spay & neutering animals the need for Jefferson County to have an animal shelter has continued to increase.

With the increasing amount of stray, abandoned and lost animals in Jefferson County, the AS&C started a Foster Care Program in 2018 to help save animals and ease the increasing numbers. Since Jefferson County does not have animal control services, the AS&C has been first responders saving animals. By working with County law enforcement, we help care for the animals through our foster home network keeping them safe until they are reunited with the owners, or a new loving home is found.

While we have made some great strides with our spay/neuter and Foster Care programs, the AS&C still have a lot to accomplish. Our ultimate goal is to build and facilitate a 5,000 sq. ft shelter facility. In the meantime, the AS&C has started the kennel building project to help ease the increasing numbers of stray and abandoned animals in the County.
