We care for 100’s of dogs and cats in Jefferson County and couldn’t do it without our compassionate and dedicated volunteers. Giving hands-on care to animals, educating our community, providing administrative support and more. AS&C of Jefferson County volunteers report a deep sense of satisfaction in contributing to the health and well-being of animals while working alongside others who desire to take action on their behalf. We provide the training for all volunteer positions, so no prior experience is required other than the love of animals.

Ideal candidates must possess the following qualities/abilities:

  • Self-motivated
  • Team player
  • Dependable
  • Able to commit to a minimum of two hours at a time
  • Must exhibit a willingness to learn about animals and how to interact with them
  • Agree to support AS&C’s philosophy and to perform in a professional manner

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

  • Event Volunteer – Events occur 4 to 8 times a year.  We need volunteers to work the event, either in setting up, cleaning up or being an AS&C ambassador.
  • Join our Team – Be actively involved in the progress of AS&C organization.
  • Foster Care – Assist in lost & found animal cases.
  • Animal Shelter Volunteer – Help care for animals and support operations
  • Spay Neuter Clinics – Assist in the recovery of animals during the clinic. 
  • Pet Microchip Clinic’s – Assist in running the event.
  • Vaccination Clinics – Assist in running the event.
  • Group Volunteering – Your business or organization can volunteer together at AS&C! Single days of service can be arranged for groups of 5 or more. Group volunteers assist with operational support and will receive a tour of the kennel building.
