AS&C of Jefferson County ADOPTION POLICIES

  • Before any adoption is to take place an application needs to be submitted.
  • All applicant must be 18 years or older.
  • All applications received will be processed with the best interests of the dog or cat in mind, to ensure a successful adoption for the animal and your family.
  • After your application has been received, it will be sent to our committee for processing and background check.  
  • We recommend that all household members meet the animal during the adoption process. In some cases, we will make this a requirement.
  • It is a requirement of the AS&C for all current dogs in the household to meet with the selected dog; you must be willing to travel with your current dog (if applicable) and household members to meet selected dog. Making sure all current dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and care.
  • After the AS&C of Jefferson County has processed all adoption applicants a decision will be made.
  • Completing an application does NOT guarantee adoption.
